ARTIST TALK: Jenna Pippett
Please join artist Jenna Pippett in her exhibition From Czechoslovakia With Love as she discusses her recent work, and reflects on her process.
From Czechoslovakia with Love by Jenna Pippett
“Pippett works predominantly in digital media, drawing inspiration from collected family memorabilia. From Czechoslovakia with Love takes as its starting point documents gathered by the Statni Bezpecnost StB (Communist Secret Police), operating in Czechoslovakia from 1945 - 1990. The document details the proceedings and 'criminal activity' the artist’s grandparents committed against the Communist state. This information has been made accessible by a Czech government agency founded in 2007 aiming to provide transparency, by returning the ownership of invasive and personal information to victims. Exploring this shift in power and information, the work connects through design elements, everyday life, humour and language.” ES
POP Open Studios & Art Fairs
POP hosted our second annual Opens Studios and Art Fair on Saturday 20th April 2024, following a postponement from the 2023 due to inclement weather. We welcomed nine studio and gallery spaces from around Adelaide to Iparityi Lane, and the POP Studio Artists opened their studios to welcome the public through. Expanding on the 2022 Art Fair, we hosted a panel discussion in the gallery, and welcomed an increased audience from previous years. Stall holders reported an increase on sales from our 2022 event, and we grew our audience coming through the gallery.
