Assistant Director

The Assistant Director position is both strategic and hands on. It works in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Curator to ensure the effective management and curation of Post Office Projects. Post Office Projects is a flexible, artist and curator led space that responds and adapts according to the needs of our community.
The position is a learning-focused role, designed for applicants to expand their understanding and skills in leadership and programming in a gallery and studio context. It will work in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Curator to develop and implement the strategic vision for POP, the exhibition and the studio programs. The role forms part of POP’s succession planning, and is expected to expand in 2026.

Post Office Projects Gallery accepts exhibition proposals from early and mid-career artists curators based locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Proposals will be assessed after the closing date and successful applicants will be contacted by the Director. All applications will be assessed against the selection criteria below, and if required, the Director will contact the applicant for more information.
Studios
Applications for the 2025 studio program are open.
Applications close 11:59pm Monday 13 January 2025.
Studio artists will be required to commit to participating in the Post Office Projects Studio Program, including critical discussion groups and being available to meet with visiting curators, colleagues and directors.
